Discussing mental health issues with CBBC presenter Katie Thistleton

Blog page
CBBC presenter Katie Thistleton came to the school yesterday for a great session with some of our Y7s. Katie is in the process of compiling questions for her forthcoming book “Dear Katie” where she will be providing some sound advice on how to deal with any kind of mental health problems that 10-16 years-old may be experiencing as part of growing up:
Katie has suffered from her own issues in the past and since becoming a TV and radio presenter, she’s been keen to get people to open up about mental health more. She’s an ambassador for Mind and takes part in the Radio 1 surgery with Dr Radha, answering people’s questions live on air. This visit is part of her tour around Manchester, where she is originally from. During the session, our students helped Katie answer some of the questions that other students from different schools had already sent her. Some of their suggestions were brilliant and we look forward to see if any of our own questions/problems make it into the book (anonymously, of course!) when it is published in September.
