Stretford Grammar has been involved in running the Duke of Edinburgh Award for several years now. At present we have over 170 Key Stage 4 students enrolled at Bronze Level and this year our Year 12 students have began their Gold Award. In recognition of these fantastic achievements, we were invited to attend a DofE Champions event. The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, was the guest of honour. He praised the work of the volunteers and highlighted the importance of the award in terms of its impact on the aspirations of young people. Director of the North of England, Rob Johnston, chaired a series of speeches that celebrated the impact of the DofE. Paul Griffiths and Steph Ashcroft (the Greater Manchester Team) have assisted Stretford Grammar in order to offer the award to as many people as possible. Mr Price-Uden explained that is was an honour for our school to be represented at the event and emphasised the importance of the award in providing our students with the opportunity.
