Stretford Grammar School - A Specialis Science College Croissant
Language skills fir an international society

In Year 7, all students study French as their first modern language. In Year 8, most students go on to study Spanish as a second foreign language. At the end of Year 9, most pupils will be given the choice as to which language they will study to GCSE Level. At SGS we encourage as many students as possible to study both French and Spanish to GCSE Level. Language lessons are full of pace and variety, and pupils are encouraged to participate fully in all activities in the language being taught.

AQA GCSE French/Spanish
Lessons focus on practicing the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Each key skill accounts for 25% of the overall mark. There is no coursework option.

The two year course is taught, as much as possible, in the target language and focuses on the following topic areas:

My World
Holiday Time and Travel
Work and Lifestyle
The Young Person in Society
