Admissions into Sixth Form
The minimum academic requirement for entry into the Sixth Form from September 2017 is five GCSE passes, four at Grade B and one at Grade C. All students must have a minimum Grade C in English Language and Mathematics and a minimum Grade B in the subjects to be studied. Additional academic requirements apply as set out below.
Students who have studied Core and Additional Science (Dual Award) at GCSE and who wish to study the sciences must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
Students with only GCSE Core Science will not be able to study Science at A Level.
Applicants who wish to study Psychology, Sociology or Government and Politics but have not had the opportunity to take a GCSE in the subject, must have at least a grade B in English Language. Applicants who wish to study Economics, Business or Computer Science but have not had the opportunity to take a GCSE in the subject, must have at least a grade B in Mathematics.
These requirements should be read in conjunction with the Sixth Form Admissions Policy.
Applicants who have completed their secondary education in schools other than in England and Wales and have taken I.G.C.S.E. or O-level qualifications will be subject to the same requirements as stated above. Students who take qualifications other than G.C.S.E., I.G.C.S.E. or O-level must have equivalent qualifications as defined and verified by NARIC (www.ecctis.co.uk/naric) and be able to demonstrate that they are working at a level comparable to the minimum academic requirement for entry into the sixth form. Equivalent qualifications will only be accepted if the course content provides suitable preparation for A Level study and students will only be enrolled once qualifications have been verified in writing.
It is expected that the majority of students will be enrolled from those who have completed Year 11 at the school (internal applicants).
Applicants from other schools should complete and submit an online application by Friday 10th February 2017.
