Geography Department - modern and progressive

The Geography department is modern and progressive, using a variety of teaching methods and learning styles designed to engage pupils’ interest and involve them actively in the learning process. The department is well resourced and uses exciting and motivational materials designed to develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of the world and their interest in geography.

 

A Level Geography
At AS/A2 the course followed is AQA Specification B. The aims of the course are to enable students to understand how and why differences exist between contrasting areas of the world.


Year 12 – A/S
The A/S syllabus is split into three modules.

Module 1
The dynamics of change – both physical and in people and their environmental interactions.
Module 2
Glacial environments.
Module 3
Urban change in the UK and the wider world in the past 30 years.

Year 13 – A/2
The A/2 syllabus is split into three modules.

Module 1
Global change in physical, people and environments and human geography.
Module 2
Decision making.
Module 3
Practical applications of skills based on the Isle of Arran fieldtrip.
