A number of political topics are covered

The Government and Politics A Level course follows the Edexcel syllabus. The subject is delivered through six 50 minute lessons per week, in both Year 12 and Year 13.

 

AS Level – Year 12
In Year 12, the topics covered are as follows: Democracy, Political Parties, Pressure Groups, Parliament, The Executive Parliamentary Reform and Devolution, Key Political Concepts, Elections, Constitution, Judiciary, Electoral Reform, Constitutional Reform and Europe.

AS Level – Year 13
The Year 13 course follows Route C of the Edexcel syllabus. This involves two units studying the government and politics of the USA, and a third synoptic unit. The synoptic unit studies comparative politics, looking at the similarities and differences between the systems of government in the UK and the USA.
