Celebrating World Book Day

Students and staff enter into the spirit of their book characters

World Book Day is alive and well at SGS.  During the week our students and staff have been engaged in a celebration of books and reading with students working together in a spirit of friendly competition. The many activities and events were designed to interest all students and give them the opportunity to work together again, earning whole school reward points for displaying:

Ambition, Equality, Respect, Kindness, Endeavour, Achievement, Trust

Activities included designing an extreme reading poster; showing their knowledge in the tutor group quiz to qualify for the final; bringing in a book they have enjoyed and selling the book to earn money for a local charity; making a book box to store the books in or a book bag; and today we have been dressing up as their favourite character and been interviewed explaining their choice.

All money raised will go to a charity and some will be used to put on a festival of literature later in the year.

Finally, on Friday, the debate will be all about books. What a fantastic celebration of books!
