So you want to be a scientist?

BBC Radio 4 are running a competition for budding scientists, this is open to students over the age of 16 who have never had a scientific article published.  Have a look at the website and see if you are interested in entering.  Year 11,12 and 13 just imagine how good this would look on a University Application form!!!!  If you are interested see Mrs Sutton A.S.A.P. as you may be able to use the schools resources to do you experiments.

Stretford Grammar School: Appointment of Headteacher
December 2009

Dear Parent/Carer,

After a rigorous two day selection process involving 5 shortlisted candidates, I am delighted to inform you that Michael Mullins (Deputy Head of Sale Grammar School/Associate Head of Stretford Grammar School) has been appointed Head of Stretford Grammar School with effect from 1st April 2010.

The appointment of a substantive Headteacher marks the next step in the school’s journey out of Special Measures, against which good progress has already been made.

On behalf of governors, staff and students I would like to wish Mr. Mullins every future success in his new role.

Thank you for your continued support.

Harry Almond
Chair of Governors

Ofsted Monitoring November 2009 Visit Information

Summary

Special measures: monitoring inspection of Stretford Grammar School

Following my visit with Christine Harrison and Jon Lovgreen, additional inspectors, to your school on 23 and 24 November 2009, I write on behalf of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills to confirm the inspection findings.

The visit was the second monitoring inspection since the school became subject to special measures in February 2009. The monitoring inspection report is attached and the main judgements are set out below.

Progress since being subject to special measures – good

Progress since previous monitoring inspection – good

Newly qualified teachers may be appointed.

This letter and monitoring inspection report will be posted on the Ofsted website.

I am copying this letter and the monitoring inspection report to the Secretary of State, the chair of governors and the Director of Education and Early Years Services for Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council.
Yours sincerely

Marguerite McCloy
Her Majesty’s Inspector
