Year 7 Humanities Projects Showcase Student Creativity

Across two after-school sessions on Monday and Tuesday this week, Year 7 students took centre stage at Stretford Grammar School to present their projects. Focusing on the themes of how people, place, and religion shape their lives, our youngest students took full control, demonstrating the intellectual curiosity and creative talent that thrives within our school.
Freedom of Expression in the Humanities
The Humanities subjects at Stretford Grammar School stand as a cornerstone of our academic success, and this showcase highlighted the strength of the department. Rather than confining students to traditional essays, the broad nature of the topic allowed for complete creative control over both their subject matter and their presentation methods.
Some students took an introspective route, diving into their family histories and cultures, or exploring local places and historical figures with personal significance to them.
The variety of presentation formats brought the canteen to life:
- Models & Posters: Detailed displays capturing architectural landmarks and historical maps.
- Digital Presentations: Researched PowerPoints outlining cultural traditions.
- Sensory Displays: Handmade traditional costumes and authentic family food dishes shared with peers and staff.
"The variety of approaches this year is brilliant," said Miss King, Geography teacher. "By giving our Year 7s ownership over how they expressed these themes, they did not just show us what they learned—they shared a piece of who they are. The depth of research, from family heritage to physical geography, proves that the Humanities are vital to our students' understanding of the world."
The effort put into these projects shows an excellent start to the students' academic journeys at Stretford Grammar. Congratulations to all of Year 7 for their hard work, and a thank you to the staff and parents who supported them behind the scenes.
