Stretford Grammar Scientists Tackle Regional ChemQuiz Challenge

Selected students from Years 9 and 10 represented Stretford Grammar School at the Royal Society of Chemistry’s annual ChemQuiz. Held at Manchester Metropolitan University, the event brought together exceptional young scientists from across the region to test their practical skills and academic knowledge.

A dedicated team of four students from across the two year groups combined their scientific understanding and collaborative skills to solve a series of complex laboratory challenges. The competition demands precise analytical technique, logical deduction, and effective communication under time constraints, pushing students well beyond the boundaries of the standard school curriculum.

Faced with unfamiliar apparatus and advanced problem-solving scenarios, the Stretford Grammar team demonstrated the high standard of scientific enquiry cultivated within the school.

Chemistry teacher, Miss Hayton, praised the efforts and dedication of the participants:

"The ChemQuiz provides a platform for our students to apply classroom principles to rigorous, real-world practical scenarios. Watching the team collaborate to unlock these complex scientific puzzles highlights their impressive teamwork and academic resilience. This experience showcases the talent within our science department and inspires our students to view chemistry as a path to future innovation."

The tournament offers pupils invaluable exposure to university-standard laboratory facilities, strengthening their passion for the subject and developing the core competencies required for future scientific pursuits.
