Stretford Grammar School pupils recently returned from an immersive four-day educational excursion across France. The journey provided students with a chance to practice their language skills, explore iconic cultural landmarks, and experience French heritage firsthand.

From High-Tech Wonder to Heritage Craft

The itinerary balanced modern innovation with classical French tradition. After traveling overnight through Dunkirk, the group arrived in the Val de Loire to spend their first full day at Parc Futuroscope. Students navigated the futuristic theme park, exploring multi-sensory cinematic attractions and immersive scientific exhibits. The cultural focus shifted to traditional craftsmanship on the second day with a visit to the commune of Amboise. Pupils toured the Conservatoire de la Confiserie, learning about the historic art of French confectionery and watching artisan candy production. The trip concluded in the historic city of Tours. Students spent the afternoon exploring the central district before sitting down together for an authentic dining experience at Brasserie Madeleine.

Language in Action

Throughout the visit, pupils engaged with native speakers, ordered local food, and navigated daily interactions in French.
