Year 11 Netball Tournament

The team, captained by Isabel, embarked on their last tournament as a team in Stretford colours. With some tough games ahead, they started exceptionally well with a 7-4 win over North Cestrian. The opponents named Ava as their player of their game and this was much deserved. Ava fought hard throughout the match, being there for extra passes, supporting the players at both ends of the court and chasing down any lost balls.
The team then moved onto Altrincham Girls Grammar A team, which proved to be a much tougher match. The defence had to work hard in this game against a strong attack from AGGS and in the end, the opponents played a consistently strong game that we struggled to break down.
Moving onto Wellington A, the first half saw the opposition take a 3-goal lead. Catching them would be a challenge but the team didn’t give up. The game finished 7-3 to Wellington but a rematch is on the cards in the Year 11 league.
The next game against Altrincham Girls Grammar B was a close game, with a lot of back and forth. We narrowly lost out at the final whistle and the score line ended up 4-3 to the opposition.
Our last game of the day was against Wellington B, and this is where we shone. Our shooting combination of Hannah and Maali couldn’t miss and the game ended with a huge 9-0 win.
Key players of the day were Hannah, who played in both the centre court and shooting circle and Isabel, who led from the front with her energy and resilience. Eva and Eva also deserve a mention as they both played in both attack and defence, supporting the team where they were needed.
