Stretford Grammar School Sports Day 2025

A Celebration of Talent and Team Spirit

On Friday 20th June, Stretford Grammar School held its annual Sports Day at the renowned Longford Park Stadium — a hub of local athletics, equipped with a full-size running track, specialist field event zones, and ample seating for supporters. With blue skies and high spirits, the whole school came together for a full day of friendly yet fiercely competitive sporting action.

Every student, from Year 7 through to Year 12, had the chance to compete, cheer, and showcase their athletic talents. The stadium echoed with encouragement and excitement as events unfolded, and records tumbled one after another.

Form Winners by Year Group:

The competition was close across all year groups, but the following forms emerged victorious:

Year 7 – Form 7R

Year 8 – Form 8R

Year 9 – Form 9O

Year 10 – Form 10T

Year 12 – Form 12O

Each form displayed impressive teamwork, energy, and determination — a real testament to their spirit and sportsmanship.

 

Record-Breaking Performances

This year’s Sports Day saw an exceptional number of school records shattered, with students delivering standout individual performances that will be remembered for years to come.

Boys' Record Highlights:

Muhannad (Year 7) set a blistering pace in the 1500m Steeplechase, finishing in 5 minutes 54 seconds.

Johnny (Year 8) showed incredible strength and technique, achieving 35.89m in Discus and 13.75m in Shot Putt.

Promise (Year 8) stunned spectators with a 9.93m Triple Jump, a leap of both power and precision.

Paddy (Year 8) clocked an impressive 2 minutes 37 seconds in the 800m, pushing the pace with every stride.

Layth (Year 10) cleared an astounding 1.65m in the High Jump, soaring to new heights.

Adrian  (Year 10) delivered a standout middle-distance run in the 800m, finishing in 2 minutes 5.2 seconds — fastest school times on record.

 

Girls' Record Highlights:

Katrina (Year 7) launched herself to 3.94m in the Long Jump, a superb start to her athletic journey.

Evie (Year 8) flew through the 300m in just 51 seconds, combining speed and endurance.

Darcey (Year 9) dominated in the field with 18.89m in Discus and 8.32m in Shot Putt.

Form 9S delivered a perfectly executed 4x100m relay, finishing in exactly 1 minute — a record-breaking team effort.

Princess showcased outstanding all-around ability, clocking 29 seconds in the 200m and achieving a remarkable 4.45m in Long Jump.

PE teacher and sports day organiser, Mr. Hodgson, praised all students for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and resilience throughout the day:

This year’s Sports Day wasn’t just about records — although there were many — it was about the whole school coming together to support one another and celebrate movement, health, and achievement. Every student should be proud.

With a backdrop of cheers, sunshine, and school pride, Sports Day 2025 will be remembered not only for its outstanding performances but for its community spirit and joyful energy.
