Welcome to our School

Stretford Grammar School Hosts Induction Day for New Year 7 Students

A warm welcome to our new cohort of students starting in September

Stretford Grammar School recently opened its doors to welcome the incoming Year 7 students for a vibrant and engaging Induction Day, ahead of their official start in September. The day was designed to ease the transition from primary to secondary school, offering a blend of fun, learning, and community spirit. From the moment students arrived, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. The day kicked off with ice breaker activities, helping students get to know one another and begin forming friendships that will carry them through their school journey. One of the highlights of the day was the circus skills workshop, where students tried their hands at juggling, plate spinning, and balancing acts. The session not only brought laughter and energy but also encouraged teamwork and perseverance.

In the classroom, students took part in English enrichment sessions, exploring creative writing and storytelling in a fun and interactive way. Meanwhile, the Maths Road Show transformed numbers into an adventure, with puzzles and challenges that sparked curiosity and critical thinking. Miss King, Progress Leader for Year 7, shared her thoughts on the day:

It was wonderful to see our new students so engaged and enthusiastic. Today was all about building confidence, making connections, and giving them a taste of the exciting opportunities ahead. We can’t wait to see them thrive in September.

The day concluded with an evening event for parents and carers, who were invited to meet the school’s senior leadership and pastoral teams. This provided a valuable opportunity to ask questions, understand the school’s ethos, and learn more about the support systems in place for their children. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) was also on hand, offering guidance on school uniform and helping families feel prepared and welcomed into the Stretford Grammar community. The Induction Day was a resounding success, setting a positive tone for the new academic year and reinforcing the school’s commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and personal growth.
