Year 7 Conwy Residential 2025

Year 7 Take on Adventure in North Wales!
Earlier this term, our Year 7 students embarked on their first residential trip to the Conwy Activity Centre in beautiful North Wales. Over the course of three exciting days, pupils took part in a range of adventurous outdoor activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
On the first day, students visited Beaumaris Castle, one of the most architecturally sophisticated castles in Britain. Students explored the castle’s towers, battlements, and inner chambers, gaining a vivid sense of medieval life and the strategic importance of Anglesey in Welsh history.
The weather was on our side, with sunshine and clear skies providing the perfect backdrop for activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, kayaking, orienteering, and team challenges. Students also enjoyed evening campfires, group games, and time to bond with new friends in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Miss King, Year 7 Progress Leader, shared her thoughts on the trip:
It was wonderful to see our students step out of their comfort zones, support each other, and grow in confidence. The residential is a key part of their transition into secondary school, and they absolutely rose to the challenge.
Trips like this are more than just fun—they play a vital role in personal development. They help students build independence, strengthen friendships, and develop key life skills that support their academic journey. For many, it was their first time away from home, and they returned with memories, laughter, and a real sense of achievement.
The Conwy Centre is located in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales. Nestled in a scenic woodland setting near the Menai Strait, the centre has long served as a hub for outdoor learning and residential experiences for schools across the region. The site itself is steeped in natural beauty and Welsh heritage, providing students with immersive experiences that blend adventure with cultural learning. Its proximity to historic landmarks and coastal landscapes makes it an ideal base for exploring North Wales.
We’re proud of our Year 7s and look forward to more adventures ahead!
