We’re excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for Year 5 pupils to take part in Literacy and Numeracy Masterclasses hosted by Stretford Grammar School, in collaboration with local primary schools. Parents who would like their child to take the Trafford Grammar School Consortium entrance exam are invited to apply for a place. There are 60 places available and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If your child qualifies for Pupil Premium Funding, we would encourage you to apply.

These engaging sessions will run every Wednesday after school, starting Wednesday 26th November 2025 and continuing until Wednesday 11th February 2026. Each session begins at 4:00 pm and lasts for one hour, offering pupils the chance to work with our experienced staff on activities designed to boost their attainment in both literacy and numeracy.

What to Expect:

• Two groups running in parallel to accommodate more pupils.
• A wide range of fun and challenging activities including:
  • Literacy Focus: Inspirational texts, imaginative writing, word games, and even a Sherlock Holmes adventure!
  • Numeracy Focus: Substitution, working with time, money problems, and multi-step challenges.

At the end of the programme, parents will be invited to a celebration event at the school to showcase the fantastic work completed by the pupils.

Important Notes:

• These sessions are open to all pupils, not just those applying to Stretford Grammar School.
• Participation is not a requirement for grammar school applications in Trafford.
