Former Student Remembers Mr Mullins Through Art
In the weeks following the passing of our esteemed Headteacher, Mr Mullins, the Stretford Grammar community has found many ways to reflect on his incredible legacy. However, few tributes have been as visual or as poignant as the work of former student, Pearl.
Pearl, who attended Stretford Grammar and remembers Mr Mullins’ steadfast support during her time here, felt moved to pick up her brushes to process the news. The result is a stunning portrait that captures not just the likeness, but the very spirit of a man who gave so much to this school and the wider community.
For Pearl, painting the portrait was a way to say a final "thank you." She describes the process as a reflective journey, recalling the encouragement Mr Mullins offered to students to pursue their passions—whether on the sports pitch, in the lab, or, in her case, at the easel.
The portrait serves as a powerful reminder of the impact a great educator has on their pupils, long after they have walked through the school gates for the last time. It beautifully mirrors the sentiments shared by many of our alumni: that Mr Mullins wasn't just a Headteacher, but a true advocate for the potential of every individual.
We would like to extend our deepest thanks to Pearl for this beautiful and thoughtful contribution. It is a fitting testament to a man who always encouraged his students to leave their mark on the world.
