Welcome to our School

Stretford Grammar Took on Manchester: The Ultimate Business Challenge

We were thrilled to see a select group of our talented Business Studies students represent Stretford Grammar School in a prestigious inter-school competition at The University of Manchester recently. The event took place in the historic Whitworth Hall on Oxford Road, providing a setting that was far more than just a typical field trip. Our team of five went head-to-head against nineteen other schools in a high-pressure environment designed to mimic real-world industry challenges.

Developing the Leaders of Tomorrow

This competition was a fantastic opportunity for our students to step out of the classroom and into the shoes of young professionals. Throughout the day, they were pushed to utilise a diverse range of cross-curricular skills, including communication and ICT to present ideas clearly, and applied mathematics to navigate the financial side of business logic. Furthermore, the day focused heavily on key employability skills such as problem-solving, self-management, and the art of working effectively with others. These competencies are exactly what modern employers value across many industry sectors, making the experience an invaluable addition to our students’ personal development.

A Word from the Department

Our Curriculum Leader for Business Studies, Miss Platt, expressed great pride in the students who were selected to represent the school.

"This event was a brilliant platform for our students to showcase their talents on a larger stage. By competing in such a historic venue against some of the brightest minds in the region, they didn't just learn about business—they practised the resilience and teamwork required to succeed in any career path they choose."

We would like to congratulate the team on representing the Stretford Grammar spirit so well during this challenging day.
