Welcome to our School

New House System Launch with Record-Breaking Harvest Festival Donation!

Monday 5th October 2026 marked a major milestone at Stretford Grammar as students and staff came together for the very first whole-school event of our newly reignited House System.

In a powerful display of community spirit, the school rallied in support of Lifeshare, central Manchester’s oldest homelessness charity. Lifeshare provides vital relief to individuals and families across Greater Manchester who are experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and fuel poverty—including distributing emergency food parcels every Tuesday and Thursday.

A Mighty Community Effort

To support Lifeshare's annual Harvest Festival, students across all Houses were challenged to bring in essential non-perishable food items—ranging from tinned meats, soups, and pasta to cereal bars, instant noodles, and bottled water.

With every item brought in earning one point toward the House competition, the response was nothing short of extraordinary. In total, the Stretford Grammar community donated an astounding 1,908 items to Lifeshare! The sheer volume of donations was so immense that a delivery van had to be called to collect and transport everything to the charity's headquarters.

While the final House point tallies are being calculated and will be revealed soon, the collective effort of our students, parents, and staff deserves immense commendation. This achievement perfectly reflects Stretford Grammar's core values of empathy, responsibility, and giving back to our local community.

A Word from Mrs. Akhter

Assistant Headteacher Mrs. Akhter, who has led the reignition of the House System at Stretford Grammar, shared her pride in the outcome:

"Bringing back the House System was all about fostering community, healthy competition, and a sense of shared purpose across the school. Seeing our students show such incredible generosity for Lifeshare in our very first event has been truly inspiring. Donating nearly 2,000 items is a testament to the compassion and dedication of our entire school family, and I couldn't be prouder of how everyone pulled together for such an important cause."

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making our first House event an overwhelming success! Stay tuned for the official announcement of the House point totals!
