#BeeWell

BeeWell Launch Event 23rd September 2021

On Thursday 23rd September, a group of ten students along with Ms Hyde and Mrs Dolphin attended the launch event for the Beewell project at the Mayfield Depot in Manchester. This is a project run by Manchester University along with the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families.  The project aims to listen to young peoples’ voices about mental health and wellbeing, to act in to to to celebrate young peoples’ wellbeing and to act together to bring about positive change. We are pleased to be a #Beewell school and look forward to helping to inspire a conversation across Greater Manchester about treating wellbeing as an outcome complementary to academic achievement.

Students from many schools across Greater Manchester joined together on a range of activities including  sporting, therapeutic and creative activities as well as adding graffiti onto a bus with wellbeing messages.  We also attended and learnt about sound baths and how they can be used to manage anxiety and sooth the nervous sessions. Students are returning to school to share the Beewell message.  The next step for us as a #Beewell school is to conduct wellbeing surveys with Year 8s and Year 10s. These are surveys designed by young people about different aspects of wellbeing. The data collected will give an insight into young peoples’ mental health across the region.
