Year 10 GCSE RE visit to St. Matthews Church

To develop our learning about ‘Christian practices’ this week,

Year 10 visited Reverend Kate at the local, St. Matthews Church. During the visit, pupils explored what they could see within the Church and reflected on the role of the Church within a local community. Pupils asked many thought-provoking questions about what the uses of the different features of the church were. Following on, Reverend Kate walked through a Eucharist and Baptism service which allowed pupils to understand both the events and meaning of these key practices. We were even curious to find out whether Baptism was at a financial cost!

We will now spend the next few lessons reflecting on the importance of Sacraments in Christian practice and how different Churches interpret these beliefs.
